Blues suffer eighth loss from nine

By: Andy Rowe | Latest Rugby News | Saturday April 28 2012 6:35

The Blues have lost the battle at the breakdown and their eighth Super Rugby match in nine attempts.

The home side has gone down 23-11 to the Reds at Eden Park, to remain winless at home this season.

Captain Luke Braid says he and brother Daniel didn't do their job in the loose.

"Letting ourselves down, just breakdown right outside the line, they're getting those turnovers so we just need to go away and look at set piece and our breakdown. Our breakdown was just not good enough."

Reds coach Ewen McKenzie says his flankers got the better of the Blues.

But Reds halfback Will Genia says his side just wanted the win more.

"Just attitude, I mean, plenty of enthusiasm, we started well, you know, and we spoke about it at halftime about how we needed to maintain that energy because we felt if we did that they couldn't keep up with us and I guess that's what eventuated."

The Reds scored three tries to one, with Luke Braid scoring the home side's five pointer.
