Auckland's run past North Harbour 36-16 in the ITM Cup's battle of the bridge in Albany. Harbour got off to a decent start and led 10-7, but from there it was all Auckland who have now moved to within one point of the top spot in the premiership standings. Charles Piutau, Gareth Anscombe, Angus Ta'avao, Daniel Braid and Dave Thomas all scored for Auckland to give them a crucial four-try bonus point. North Harbour's only try came through hooker James Parsons. It leaves them winless. Earlier, Taranaki turned around a 15-6 halftime deficit to thrash Southland 47-18 in Invercargill. The amber and blacks have erased some of the pain of losing the Ranfurly Shield to Waikato midweek, by running in five tries including two to James Marshall. Photo: Gareth Anscombe (Photosport) |
