Crusaders through to semi-finals

By: Elliott Smith | Latest Rugby News | Saturday July 21 2012 21:35

The Crusaders are into the Super Rugby semi-finals, after a 28 -13 qualifying final win over the Bulls in Christchurch.

The home side dominated early proceedings, taking a 16-3 lead into halftime courtesy of a dazzling try to Zac Guildford and 11 points from Dan Carter's boot.

The Bulls dotted down twice in the second half through Jacques Potgieter and Wynand Olivier, but the Crusaders remained clinical throughout - capitalising on Bulls errors, with Carter nabbing six penalty goals in all.

It's the red and blacks' 14th win from 14 home playoff matches in the competition's history.

Their opponent and venue for next week will be known later tonight after the Reds play the Sharks, with the date next week either in Hamilton or Cape Town.
