Pat Lam remains defiant over his future. There are mounting calls for the Blues coach to stand aside following the Auckland franchise's ninth loss of the Super Rugby season. The All Blacks coaches are paying a visit to the Blues ahead of their bottom of the table Super Rugby match against the Lions.
Steve Hansen and his support staff are meeting with those in contention to play in three tests against Ireland next month.
Blues coach Pat Lam says he'll bounce ideas off them. Lam insists he hasn't entertained thoughts about quitting before the season finishes. "All I can do is week to week, day to day, do my job to the best of my ability. We've got so many different factors and circumstances why things aren't quite happening on the field." Lam says it's doubtful Keven Mealamu will return to captain the Blues in Friday night's match against the Lions. But he's hopeful prop Tony Woodcock will be available for selection.
