Haskell cited for throwing punches

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Rugby News | Sunday April 29 2012 12:35

Highlanders' flanker James Haskell has been cited for throwing punches in his side's Super Rugby win over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

The England international struck Cheetahs flanker Justin Downey twice late in the first half.

Referee Marius Jonker consulted his assistant referees and issued both a yellow and white card for the offence.

Following a review of the match footage the citing commissioner has deemed the incident met the red card threshold for foul play.
