Waikato celebrates another sporting success

| Latest Rugby News | Sunday August 5 2012 12:35

Another sporting success to celebrate in Waikato.

The Chiefs have won the Super Rugby competition, with a 37-6 victory over the Sharks in Hamilton last night.

That follows the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic's win in netball's ANZ championship last month.

Hamilton mayor Julie Hardaker says the successes bring a real boost to the region.

One of the things about the Chiefs' and Magic's wins is that we sort of claim them as our own so it's that loyalty thing, they're ours, they've done well and we know them, they are in our community."

Julie Hardaker says there'll be a victory parade for the Chiefs in Hamilton tomorrow afternoon.
