Blyendaal to get first shot

Tyler Bleyendaal is almost certain to fill Daniel Carter's boots for the Crusaders when their Super Rugby campaign kicks off on Friday night.

The 21-year-old has been battling Tom Taylor for the number 10 jersey in pre-season.

Coach Todd Blackadder says Bleyendaal is likely to get first go as the Crusaders' first five this season.

Blackadder says Bleyendaal has been fantastic and will get the nod to take the number 10 jersey.

The Crusaders face the Blues at Eden Park on Friday.
