Piri Weepu's services won't be required by Auckland in the ITM Cup Premiership final against Canterbury on Saturday.
Weepu and Charlie Faumuina have been released by the All Blacks and are available to play for Auckland.
But, coach Wayne Pivac says Weepu won't be in their 22.
"So much of our play is revolving around our nine and 10 and we just think it's a big ask coming in a week out and we've have three halfbacks running all season, so we're going to go with those same players."
Pivac says Charlie Faumuina will play, while Canterbury will have Wyatt Crockett and Ben Franks in their front row.
