Joseph to stay with Highlanders

By: Nick Walker | Latest Rugby News | Wednesday July 11 2012 6:54

The Highlanders are keen to build on Jamie Joseph's past two years now it's confirmed he's staying with the franchise.

Joseph's signed on for the 2013 and 2014 Super Rugby seasons.

General Manager Roger Clark says even though they've slipped from eighth last year to ninth this season, they've made great progress.

"Obviously we haven't achieved a result but I think there's definitely been an improvement. By the appointment of Jamie and keeping some continuity with both our selection and our coaches, and our players, you've got the opportunity to do that."

Clark says not only has Joseph created a good culture within the side, but he's a very good technical coach.

He says some players rate Joseph so highly they have get-out clauses in their contracts if he leaves.

"He's got a good relationship with them. Players that he wants to hang around for the next couple of years are players that very much want to play for him," Clark says.
