Super Rugby viewership way up on a year ago

| Latest Rugby News | Friday August 3 2012 14:10

Just a day out from the Super Rugby final, the NZRU have revealed a big boost in audience numbers for the 2012 season.

Crowds are up 43 percent from a year ago, while there's been a 25 percent boost in live TV audiences.

That translates to nearly 200,000 extra fans through the turnstiles, and more than three million additional people watching live.

Competition finalists, the Chiefs, have had the biggest boost of the Kiwi teams, more than doubling their total audience.

All teams have experienced increases in both crowd and TV audiences, with the Highlanders game numbers up 70 percent at the new Forsyth-Barr stadium.
