A poor fourth quarter has seen the Canterbury Tactix fade to a 61-52 ANZ Netball Championship loss to the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in Rotorua. The Tactix stuck with the Magic for the majority of the game before the Magic pulled away in the final quarter. Tactix coach Leigh Gibbs says they keep making errors at crucial times. "Well it's a team game so we've got to recognise when we've all got to step up so yeah, experienced players and inexperience at this level, can't afford to have patches where you make errors." Magic defender Casey Williams says it gives them a glimmer of hope to make the finals. "It is, we are, definitely, it's going to be a tough road but we train hard, we have expectations at training that are that high and we train that high and we need to keep playing like that." "Stoked definitely to get off that donut at the bottom of the table, but I think it was pretty ugly to be honest and I thought Irene (van Dyk) was certainly faster." The win is the Magic's first of the season and draws them level on points with the Tactix and defending champion Queensland Firebirds. Photo: Magic's Laura Langman (Photosport) |
