Ropati re-signs with Warriors

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Rugby League News | Wednesday May 9 2012 14:04

The Warriors have re-signed veteran centre Jerome Ropati for a further NRL season.

Ropati has played 137 games for the club since making his debut in 2003.

The news comes just a couple of days after the Warriors signed Melbourne Storm centre Dane Nielsen.

Ropati is embracing the signing.

He says there's always been competition in the centres at the club.

"Dane Nielsen's a great player, I'm looking forward to playing with him. It didn't really impact the decision as much to be honest because I've always loved to stay here and Bluey has supported me in staying here as well."

Ropati says ideally he would have liked to have signed for a longer period.

"But considering the circumstance I'm in right now, gives me a bit of breathing space to hopefully get some form back and I appreciate the club for allowing me that opportunity."

Ropati says the Warriors is the club he loves and he wants to stay in Auckland for as long as he can.
