Players aren't tough enough - Kearney

By: Radio Sport staff | Latest Rugby League News | Saturday May 5 2012 13:14

Eels coach Stephen Kearney has made the startling accusation that some of his players lack the toughness required to play in the NRL.

It follows Parramatta's 46-12 loss to the Bulldogs in Sydney, which leaves the Eels with just one win from nine matches this year.

It's their worst start to a season in 52 years.

Kearney says his players have to realise the NRL is an incredibly tough competition.

"You've got to hang in there, you've got to fight, you've got to fight. They've got to understand that, until they do, you know, you're not going to get rewards."

The Bulldogs are up to fifth on the NRL ladder, level on points with the fourth-placed Cowboys, who thumped the Dragons 30-6 in Townsville.
