Southland golfer Vaughan McCall is on target for an historic double.

The 20-year-old is two up through 18 holes of the 36 hole final against Rotorua teen Peter Lee at the New Zealand amateur championships in Mt Maunganui.

McCall is bidding to become the first player in 24 years to win both the stroke play and amateur titles in the same year.

Meanwhile, sisters Munchin and Wenyung Keh are all square at the halfway stage in the women's event.
