Michael Papps is on the verge of another first class century.

The Wellington opener is unbeaten on 95 at stumps on day three of the Plunket Shield match against Canterbury in Rangiora.

He's guided Wellington to 135/0, an overall lead of 73 runs. Canterbury earlier posted 301/8 declared in its first innings

Josh Brodie is 39 not out.
