Wagner named in Black Caps test squad

By: Nick Walker | Latest Cricket News | Thursday May 3 2012 11:58

South African-born bowler Neil Wagner has been named in the Black Caps for the upcoming tour of the West Indies.

His inclusion comes at the expense of Tim Southee, who was dropped for the third test against South Africa in March.

The left-armer has been included in the 15-man test squad, which includes two wicketkeepers, BJ Watling and Kruger van Wyk and two spinners, Daniel Vettori and Tarun Nethula.

The notable feature of the limited overs squads is the omission of Brendon McCullum.

McCullum's been asked to take a break as the Black Caps prepare to embark on a heavy programme of international cricket.

Canterbury batsman Tom Latham returns to the limited overs set-up while Wellington all-rounder James Franklin misses out altogether as he instead prepares for the Twenty20 World Cup by playing English county cricket.

The side plays two Twenty20s, five ODIs and two tests during the tour, which will be John Wright's last as coach.
