Canterbury knocked out

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Cricket News | Sunday February 5 2012 19:23

Otago's knocked Canterbury out of the domestic one-day cricket competition after winning a dramatic minor semi-final in Dunedin.

Canterbury's lost its last eight wickets for just 53 runs to be dismissed for 160 in chase of just 173 for victory.

All of the Otago bowlers took wickets, but Jimmy Neesham was the pick of them with figures of four for 23.

Otago are likely to face Auckland in the preliminary final on Wednesday.

The major semi-final between Auckland and Central Districts in New Plymouth had to be abandoned because of rain, meaning Central will host next week's final.

When the rain began, Central was 16 without loss, chasing 231 for victory.
