NZC spreads blame over Black Caps shortcomings

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Cricket News | Wednesday November 21 2012 12:35

New Zealand Cricket's spreading the blame for the Black Caps' shortcomings.

Fingers have been pointed in a number of directions following the Black Caps' fifth successive test defeat.

Chief executive David White says the team's failings are no one individual's fault.

"We've all collectively got to address the problem, from the CEO to the director of cricket, the coaches, the players, and turn this round."

New Zealand Cricket's likely to intensify the coaching for their batsmen, as they try to combat spin bowling.

White says there's provision for extra resources.

"It's been addressed as a 'major' weakness which is obvious of course and looked at the possibility of sending players over to India and the like."

He says the small amount of test cricket they play is a big problem, so they need to find other ways to improve.

Director of cricket John Buchanan is with the team in Sri Lanka and he'll join White and coach Mike Hesson in reviewing the tour once they return home.
