South Africa steady innings against England

| Latest Cricket News | Saturday July 21 2012 8:15

Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla have steadied South Africa's innings after a shaky start in the first test against England at The Oval.

The Proteas lost opener Alviro Peterson for a duck in their chase of England's first innings of 385, but Smith and Amla have moved them through to 86/1 at stumps.

Earlier, South Africa's bowlers did the work fighting back to dismiss the hosts after they were sitting pretty at 251/2.
