Woman hit by bus in central Wellington

By: Tim Fookes | Latest Wellington News | Friday August 24 2012 10:35

A woman is recovering in hospital this morning after being struck by a bus in central Wellington.

The 45-year-old stepped out in front of a bus near the corner of Featherston and Hunter Streets at about 8.40am.

Shocked onlookers provided assistance before emergency services arrived.

The woman has suffered moderate injuries, and police are hoping to speak to the victim in hospital at some stage today.

It's the latest incident where pedestrians have been hit by buses in central Wellington - just last month NZ Bus director Tim Brown was hit by a bus on Willis Street, prompting the city council to carry out a full review and to install temporary barriers between the footpath and the road.
