Options considered to stop Wgtn bus accidents

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Wellington News | Thursday August 9 2012 14:23

Another street in Wellington's city centre could be shut off to traffic in a bid stop pedestrians being hit by buses.

The move follows the release this morning of a report into the Golden Mile bus route, which recommends part of Bond Street be closed to vehicles.

Mayor Celia Wade Brown says the closure is one of several options being looked at.

"I do welcome the more attractive solutions that would take a little bit longer and I think the consulting on making Bond Street a dead end, rather than cutting across that rather vulnerable area, will help."
