Police expect to recover the body of a woman found dead near a Wellington park this evening.
The body of a woman in her forties was discovered by members of the public just off a running track next to Alexandra Park around 11am.
Detective Inspector Paul Basham says it's too early to say if the death is suspicious.
He says police a team are examining the scene, including forensic scientists from ESR.
"We've also got a specialist search group and search and rescue staff there who are, as I speak, formulating a plan to recover the woman's body."
A post mortem will be carried out tomorrow.
