Government and social agencies in Wellington are jumping on board a council strategy to end homelessness in the city. The strategy was endorsed by councillors earlier this month, and other agencies are now being asked to contribute to the initiative. Social portfolio leader Stephanie Cook says she's thrilled at the way Wellington agencies and individuals are responding to the strategy's aims. "I'm just really proud to be a Wellingtonian because mostly people support that approach that we're taking, and also I think it's great that Wellington is being a New Zealand leader in this." Stephanie Cook says the strategy is likely to go out for public consultation in early December. Photo: Getty Images |
