Budget blamed for low economic confidence

| Latest Wellington News | Tuesday June 26 2012 7:24

Wellingtonians hold little hope for the economic future of their region, and the Government's Budget plans are being blamed.

The Westpac McDermott Millar regional confidence survey results show nationwide there's less hope for the economy.

National Secretary for the Public Services Association, Richard Wagstaff says with continuing cuts and changes being made to the public service sector - Wellington can expect lower levels of confidence.

"It's not surprising that people in Wellington are feeling gloomy about their prospects given the Government continued cuts to public services and their recent Budget which concerns, they intend to take a billion dollars over the next three years."
