Beer created in Blanket Man's honour

A Wellington brewer has bid a final farewell to the Capital's most famous street personality by creating a one-off 'Bye Bye Blanket Man' beer.

The boutique beer is part of a local brewing competition, with "Celia Wade-Brown Ale" and "Cooked Straight" among other winning creations.

Brewer Glynn Foster says the beer is an acknowledgement of Mr Hana's drug and alcohol addiction.

"Proceeds of 'Bye Bye Blanket Man' will be donated to a Wellington charity of Blanket Man, or Ben Hana's family, so I think that's a nice touch," he says.
