By: Annabel Reid | Upper South Island News | Sunday September 9 2012 15:19

A 21-year-old motorcross rider has been taken to hospital with serious injuries as a result of a head-on collision with another rider.

The man was flown from the Hira Forest to Nelson Hospital about 12:30pm, by the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter.

The second man was also taken by helicopter to a waiting ambulance in the Matai Valley and that took him to hospital.

He has moderate injuries.
