Investigation over possible norovirus outbreak in Whangarei resthome

By: Newstalk ZB Staff | Upper North Island News | Monday October 8 2012 15:01

Northland DHB is investigating a third possible outbreak of norovirus at a Whangarei resthome.

Medical officer of health, Jonathan Jarman, says Ranburn Lifestyle rest home in Waipu and the Shalom Aged Care home in Kensington have been given the all clear after nearly a month of battling the highly infectious stomach bug.

But he says they are waiting on tests to confirm if another home is the latest victim of the disease.

Dr Jarman says people should avoid visiting rest homes or hospitals if they have a stomach bug or are not feeling well.
