The Kaipara District Council admits debt is the biggest issue it faces. A Government review team was appointed last Thursday to oversee the council. Mayor Neil Tiller says the council has reflected on submissions on the draft Long Term Plan, including four days of hearings. He says the message from the community is loud and clear - to be accountable, lower the debt and resolve past issues. Mr Tiller admits some of the approaches in the proposed plan are too aggressive. He says the council is now reviewing many aspects of the plan and aims to cut costs hard. Photo: stock.xchng |
