Tenders open for mineral exploration in Northland

| Upper North Island News | Wednesday June 13 2012 16:10

Tenders are open for mineral exploration and development in Northland.

Energy minister and Whangarei MP Phil Heatley says the competitive tender opens the door for the country to realise the significant potential there is to grow the economic contribution made by minerals.

He says the focus is now on better understanding the metallic minerals potential of the area.

Bids received by the tender by December the 7th will be evaluated by a government panel, with five-year exploration permits to awarded to successful bidders in April next year.
