Drowning at Northland beach

A 14 year-old has died after drowning at a Northland Beach.

Dargaville Police were called to Maungonui Bluff at Ripiro Beach this afternoon after two teens were caught in a rip.

One was able to be brought back to shore by onlookers however one of the teenagers was pulled further out.

Coastguard and Air search units were deployed and the 14 year-old from Auckland was found dead.
