Warning for boaties after navigation marker goes missing

| Upper North Island News | Tuesday August 28 2012 11:30

The Bay of Plenty harbour master is warning boaties that a large navigation marker's gone missing from an aquaculture farm about nine kilometres north of Opotiki.

Brian Spake says that the pillar-type marker has broken away at its base.

The North cardinal mark is painted black above yellow and has a top of two black cones, one above the other, pointing upward.

It displays a white, quick-flashing light.

The beacon is a large one and considered to be a danger to navigation.
