Concerns raised over jetboating suspension

By: Blair Cunningham | Upper North Island News | Monday May 7 2012 15:34

There's concern at how long it took Inter City to suspend its jetboating activity after passengers suffered serious injuries.

The company has been fined $270,000 after three passengers on its Pahia based Excitor III boat suffered back injuries early last year.

Maritime New Zealand's investigator Bruce McLaren says the boat should've been ordered off the water straight after the first incident, but wasn't.

"At the end of the day they did plead guilty to those charges and the judge did find that it was the case."
