Children in hospital after school van rolls

By: APNZ | Upper North Island News | Wednesday August 22 2012 17:39

Three children are in hospital after their school transport van rolled in Waihi about 3.30pm this afternoon.

Waihi Police sergeant Dave Litton said the van rolled after colliding with a car at an intersection in a suburban 50km/h zone.

The children - who have special needs - and car driver were taken to Thames Hospital for observation. It was thought their injuries were minor.

"It was obviously an upsetting time for the three kids," said Mr Litton.

The incident comes a day after a 5-year-old boy was killed after being knocked down by his school bus in the West Coast community of Hector.
