Woman airlifted to hospital with head injury

A 28-year-old woman is Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital with a head injury after being struck by a wool press handle.

A rescue helicopter was called to a rural property around midday, near Nuhaka.

Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter spokeswoman Louise Harvey says it's believed the woman was accidentally struck in the head by the wool press handle.

She was airlifted to hospital for further treatment.
