By: Joe Gilfillan | Upper North Island News | Sunday January 27 2013 19:42

Gisborne police have released the name of the man who died in a house fire north of the city early on Friday morning.

Ronald Russell Allison, of Puha, was 88 and lived alone in the house.

Gisborne CIB Detective Sergeant Steve Smith says a post mortem examination of Mr Allison's body has been carried out, but the results won't be available for some time.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fatal fire.
