Missing pig hunter found

By: Nina Burton | Upper North Island News | Monday July 23 2012 14:45

A missing pig hunter has been found near Rotorua.

Police were called around 2.30 this morning about the 42-year-old who was lost near Rerewhakaaitu.

The man got separated from his hunting group yesterday afternoon, in an area of Mt Tarawera, near Lake Rotomahana.

Detective Sergeant John Wilson says with heavy rain and poor weather conditions, police were concerned for the man's wellbeing.

He says fortunately the man was found just after ten this morning, and due to his condition, was evacuated by helicopter.

Detective Sergeant Wilson says the hunter was taken to Rotorua Hospital with hypothermia.
