At least nine injured in collision near Rotorua

By: Natasha Burling | Upper North Island News | Wednesday October 24 2012 20:17

At least nine people have been injured in a crash south of Rotorua.

A car and a van collided about 5pm near the intersection of State Highway 5 and Homestead Road, near Reporoa.

The nine people in the van received minor to moderate injuries and have been taken to Rotorua Hospital.

Police northern communications Inspector Ian Brooker says a member of the public has told police they were all Asian tourists.

He says the driver of the car was taken to a medical centre before police arrived at the scene.
