Community ready to welcome back former doctor

By: Dana Kinita | Upper North Island News | Monday August 20 2012 16:02

Far North elderly are celebrating the return of their former doctor.

Dr Lance O'Sullivan has indicated he'll open his own practice before Christmas after quitting from a Kaitaia Maori health organisation earlier this year.

Former patient Waireti Walters says she'll be one of the first to visit the GP at his new clinic as he understands the health needs of Maori.

"You're comfortable and even if he told you some of the worst news you'd never want to hear, somehow from him it's not so bad."

Ms Walters says Dr O'Sullivan still continued visiting patients at their home.
