Plans for new water sports centre to be aired

By: Jacob Brown | Upper North Island News | Friday August 31 2012 15:18

Plans for a multi-million dollar water sports centre on Auckland's North Shore will be aired at a public open day on Sunday.

The $8m National Ocean Water Sports Centre idea was floated back in 2010. But there's been debate as to just where it should go.

A site near the Takapuna Boating Club on The Strand has already been ruled out, after concern about interfering with prime public space.

Instead the Auckland Council's offered a place further north, the current camping ground site.
