Otago Rugby members sue Dunedin Mayor

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Lower South Island News | Wednesday May 2 2012 10:42

Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull is seeking legal advice after news he's being sued by Otago Rugby Union chairman Wayne Graham and deputy chairman Laurie Mains.

Papers have been served to Mr Cull alleging defamation for comments he made to Radio New Zealand last month.

The comments were made the day after the city council agreed to wipe $480,000 owed to it by the union.

It's understood the city council and its insurer could face a potential six-figure claim if the legal challenge is successful, not Mr Cull.
