Some brief respite after a torrential few days for Otago. Rain has eased in the region and the forecast is for drier weather until Saturday. Otago Regional Council duty flood manager Mike Goldsmith says up to 200mm of rain has fallen in the last three days. He says the clean-up following slips which have forced road closures won't begin until rain has completely stopped. Staff are continuing to monitor river levels, though they have dropped overnight. Mr Goldsmith says a number of roads in Otago remain closed today. Photo: NZ Herald |
