SH6 partially reopens after large slip

By: Philippa Ormrod | Lower South Island News | Thursday September 6 2012 19:29

State Highway 6 in Otago has now reopened to a single lane after a large slip shut the road last night.

The road, 16km south of Makarora and 33km north of Lake Hawea, was covered with large rocks - some up to 10m wide.

Contractors will work to remove the remaining slip material in the coming days and hope to have it fully reopened by the middle of next week.

NZTA apologises for any inconvenience.
