Fire services attend Purakaunui house fire

By: Natasha Burling | Lower South Island News | Saturday October 13 2012 7:14

A house has been badly damaged by fire overnight in Otago.

Fire crews were called to the property on Hill Street in Purakaunui just after 3am.

Fire Service shift manager Brent Dunn says three trucks were called to fight the fire.

He says when the first fire truck arrived the house was well ablaze and an extra tanker was requested from Waitaiti.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation.

Fire Safety officers are there investigating the cause.
