There's relief for a Haumoana resident wanting to construct a seawall to protect his property from coastal erosion.
The Hawkeâ s Bay Regional Council has granted conditional resource consent to John Bridgeman who wants his property protected while the community seeks a long term solution.
Mr Bridgeman says it's taken three years of hard work and around 80-thousand dollars to get the consent signed off.
"It would enhance the whole area and solve a lot of our problems with one fell swoop, instead of being bureaucratic and not allowing people to do things."
The 10 year consent is subject to a range of conditions, including the construction of the seawall and the removal of debris from previous failed seawalls.
