Art Deco heritage event adapting to fire ban

By: Sophie Lowery | Lower North Island News | Friday February 1 2013 17:09

The Art Deco Trust is pulling the steam out if its famous vintage train rides as a result of a total fire ban across Hawke's Bay.

The celebration of the region's Art Deco heritage gets underway in two weeks, featuring excursions on the steam locomotive.

Organiser Peter Mooney says current tinder dry conditions mean the train won't be able to get a permit for its open fire.

He says the excursions will still run and will instead be pulled by a vintage diesel train.
