By: Rachel Jackson-Lees | Lower North Island News | Thursday August 2 2012 0:42

A severe weather warning's been issued for Marlborough, Canterbury, Hawke's Bay and the Wairarapa.

Heavy rain in the hills and ranges of Hawke's Bay and the Tararua District between the Napier-Taupo Road and the Manawatu Gorge is forecast to continue tonight and during tomorrow.

150mm of rain could fall in this area by midnight tomorrow.

Heavy rain has been falling in eastern Marlborough and Canterbury north of Cheviot, with over 100mm recorded in places in the last 24 hours.

That rain is expected to ease tonight.
