Search continues for missing mother and daughter

By: Jo Scott | Latest Christchurch News | Monday May 21 2012 6:12

Christchurch police are continuing their search for a mother and daughter missing for five days.

34-year-old Selina Madden and 62-year-old Marilyn Zidich were last seen at their home in Belfast on Thursday morning.

It's believed they left the house together in a grey Fiat hatchback with the registration 'ZIDICH'.

Police suspect they may be on Banks Peninsula but helicopter searches there have found no trace of them or the car.

Senior Constable Sonya Lemmens says given Ms Zidich uses a walking frame, police believe they're likely to be in or near the vehicle.

She says there are no suggestions anything sinister has occurred to them, but their family's very upset and confused at their disappearance.
