By: Laura Heathcote | Latest Christchurch News | Friday May 4 2012 18:05

Christchurch Police want information to track the whereabouts of valuable cable testing equipment, stolen in a burglary at Ferrymead.

It happened on Tuesday night when a VLF Cable Tester was taken from an Orion yard on Scruttons Road.

Acting Sergeant Richard Scott says it's the only unit of its type in New Zealand and is worth tens of thousands of dollars.

He says whoever made off with the device would have needed a van or truck, as it weighs 380kg.

Police are are anxious to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area.
