Man at centre of bike rage incident pleads guilty

| Latest Christchurch News | Monday April 23 2012 11:02

The lawyer for the man who admitted mountain bike rage this morning is perplexed by the high level of interest in the case.

Aaron Dalton pleaded guilty to a charge of assault in the Christchurch District Court this morning.

He assaulted fellow mountain biker Jordan Brizell on the Flying Nun cycle track on the Port Hills earlier this month.

Dalton was biking downhill but wouldn't move aside and allow Mr Brizzell to pass.

Both cyclists stopped, a physical altercation took place and this was captured on the complainant's helmet camera...that footage has gone viral on the internet.

Defence lawyer Jonathon Eaton was surprised to see every major media outlet attend this morning's court appearance.

"Been questioning the media as to whether this was truly a public interest story or not, warranted the level of attention with which it's received."

Aaron Dalton now heads to a restorative justice conference on July 23rd.
