Chch's airport says it's time for more flights

By: Shani Annand-Baron | Latest Christchurch News | Thursday September 20 2012 9:38

The boss of Christchurch's airport says it's the right time for additional flights from the North Island's main centres.

Jetstar is adding seven services each week from both Auckland and Wellington.

Chief executive Jim Boult thinks the demand's there, despite a downturn over the past two years.

"We're down half a million passengers where we were prior to the quakes but I think we've reached the bottom, we're starting to see the turnaround and this is a good sign."

But Jim Boult says there was also bad news, with Jetstar deciding to pull its flights from Christchurch to Queenstown.
